    0

Since married couples and families are usually on the same health insurance plan. Your spouse and also your children will be covered on one health insurance plan. Although, we always hope nothing happened in our married, but sometimes it does. When, the worst thing happened in your married, then you decide to divorce with your spouse, many things you have to settle, such as your health insurance plan.

When you are considering a divorce, it is important to evaluate your health insurance options to prepare for the future. If your family is covered by COBRA insurance plan, you can have three years remaining to continue receiving health insurance coverage after a divorce, even death, loss of job, or other circumstances. But the plan automatically stops if you re-marry or obtain insurance coverage of your own within the three-year-window.

If you are working now but getting health insurance from your spouse’s coverage, best to examine your own employer’s medical insurance option. Even if it was cheaper to have your spouse’s insurance previously, you may find affordable, quality option with your own employer.

Start to shop around insurance plans for individual. Although, they are more expensive than plans offered to married couples, but quality is higher. Tell to different health insurance agents to consider if there is an option that is right for you and your current situation.

If you find your own insurance separately from your ex-spouse, you may still be able to receive partial compensation from your ex-spouse to help cover your medical costs. If children are involved, you may be able to secure health insurance for them and possibly yourself as well in your child support agreement.

So, don’t worry to your future any more before you divorce. Just try to do the steps on the top and start your new life.
